Myoclonus
Myoclonus is a brief, involuntary twitching of the muscles. The term encompasses hiccups, the myclonic or hypnic/hypnagogic jerk (when you step off a curb or fall off a chair just as you are falling asleep and land with a thud on your bed), and other spasms.
