I was watching a repeat of Scrubs the other day, and was wowed by the above, which has to be my favourite handshake ever. (I think it’s the shimmy that makes it.)
Here it is again in slow mo in case you fancy learning it yourself.
This set me off on a bit of a YouTrawl, the results of which I thought I would share with you. Here are some of the best handshakes online:
- Very technical shake. Love the hair smooth towards the end.
- Geeky, but includes some interesting movements.
- Another wonderfully technical shake, executed with impressive precision.
- Not much passion in the performance, and poor quality footage, but has to be included for the booty-smackin’ break, mid-shake.
- Great variety of movements, including some full body movement. Some interesting cadences, too.
- Even girls can do stupidly long handshakes.
- POUND (a short film by Evan Bernard).
This is a, frankly, pretty amateur comedy sketch about handshakes, but I’m including it because of the great shake at 2:05, which includes some PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN moves:

As for me, I am way too A.D.D. to learn such a long shake - but I will always accept dap from another brotha. But only on the black hand side!
