What's Noka Worth?
This is way out of leftfield, but a surprisingly interesting (and rather long) read. Broadly, it’s a review of Noka — a high-end chocolatier in the US — but what it really is is a thorough and complete trashing of them. The chocolate is trashed, of course, but so are their business practices, their management, and their advertising. Also included is a lot of insider-y talk about chocolate, things like: the origins, the preparation process, the wide range of recipe variations, the way it’s priced, and a whole bunch of things I’d never thought about. Do read.
Recommendation heartily seconded. I read this article a couple of years ago, and, not only is it fascinating, it’s completely changed the way I think about chocolate. It’s another wonderful example of the joy of hearing about perfectionist’s passions.
