I have a new favorite word. See also, horripilate, which can be an intransitive verb (“I horripilated when I realized I’d put my underwear on over my clothes”) or a transitive verb (“Darling, I would introduce you to my parents, but it would horripilate them”).
Everybody should make a special effort to use this word in conversation.
